My sentiments
I feel, like many things, it is just the fashion to despise certain people, certain leaders, certain ideas, and love certain other ones.
And you know, this is completely unrelated but sometimes I wish there was a ‘dislike’ button on Tumblr. Just so I could acknowledge I’ve read a post, but politely disagree with what is being said.
On “inkhorn” terms
One of my favourite pastimes involves staring at passers-by; just observing their habits and trying to form a picture of who they are. Yesterday I was having lunch with a friend in the city when we began a game of Guess-if-that-person-has-a-tattoo-or-not. (We are cool, I know.) Anyway, it was really surprising the number of seemingly conservative people who had tattoos, which made victory of the game near impossible.
When I was younger, it was rare that you saw people with tattoos. And if you did, it was most likely a butch old man trying to summon images of his badass times in a bikie gang. But these days tattoos, on all kinds of people, are becoming ubiquitous. Fashionable. Which begs the question: why would you want to be like everyone else?
Even tattoo-king Ozzy Osborne is rebuking the new ink trend, saying ‘Take it from me, you’ll grow up to regret it. It’s all well being a hot chick with ink, but when you’re sixty and your spider’s all faded and wrinkly, trust me, you’ll wish you’d never had it done… If you want to be somebody special now, don’t have a tattoo.’
Probably the wisest words he has ever said.
